Carnnect: sales / service Daily Deals, social auto sales auctions ...

We could almost see William Shatner hanging around the Carnnect site, asking car shoppers to name their price in the ICarOffer section. Here a consumer can pay for a vehicle at the Buy it Now price or name her or his own bid. She can ask her social friends to suggest pricing or give her feedback on the car; she could contact the site or the dealer by phone or email. She can Love this Deal?to save it, and network with other Carnnect users.

Carnnect?s Daily Deals for auto sales and service are local, and closing in on every U.S. state. Those that aren?t live have a coming soon notice. Carnnect is moving into Canada, UK, South Africa and Australia soon as well.

Deals must go fast. As we peruse savings city by city we get the same late-afternoon message: ?You got here too late. Deals at this location have expired.? Either that or they?re not selling as many deals as they?d like. Auto sales discounts are 10-45 percent off. Auto services are discounted 25-50 percent.

The way the deals work:

Every day, Sunday to Friday a new or pre-owned automobile is offered at a ?crazily low CARNNECT price? from a dealer in the local area. That price is hidden, though the MSRP or regular asking price is displayed. ?The ?crazily low CARNNECT price? is only revealed if a predetermined minimum number of ?interested shoppers? join the official ?waiting list? during the period that the offer is available.

The offer runs for one week. It starts at 12:00 AM on Sunday and runs until 11:59 AM on Friday of the same week. Interested shoppers must register for the deal within that period. On Friday, at 12:00 PM, noon, the ?crazily low CARNNECT price? is revealed if the minimum number of ?interested shoppers? is reached. Revealed prices are good until 11:59 PM, midnight of the same day, Friday. All advertised prices, offers and deals expire at 12:00 AM on Saturday.

Offers are available from new and used DMV-licensed automobile dealerships of all makes and models. CARNNECT Daily Deals for Automobile Sales include cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, boats, motorcycles, motor Homes, and RVs

?There are two types of waiting lists:

Interested shoppers: registered users who want to buy the vehicle a the Carnnect price, but are not obligated to do so.

Potential Buyers: When the Carnnect price is revealed interested shoppers have 13 hours to re-login and become potential buyers. They?re still not obligated to buy, however. ?The first consumer to join the potential buyer list is the first one offered the vehicle, and on down the list until someone makes the purchase.

We?re a little surprised that Potential Buyers aren?t required to follow through if they?re chosen by the dealer. That would have a lot more appeal for dealers. As it is, why wouldn?t a consumer do this? Carnnect seems like a whole lot of fun while shopping for what might turn out to be a great deal on auto repair, service or purchase.
